With a short drive you have Northumbria - the 'holiday kingdom' as it has been so rightly named, is a special place to visit, relax and take in the scenery, or visit Newcastle for the shopping, museums and renowned nightlife. In the other direction, heading towards the Scottish Border you can visit the historic towns just north of the Cheviots such as Jedburgh, Hawick and Coldstream. Closer to home, you have on your doorstep, access to Alnwick centre - a town of great historic interest and the ancestral home of the Dukes of Northumberland.
Alnwick Castle
This beautiful historic location has been used in many film sets, including the Harry Potter films. The high profile Alnwick Gardens are like non-other in Europe - an ever-changing composition of sounds, sight, texture and smell.
Bamburgh Castle
Bamburgh boasts one of the finest beaches in Northumberland with it's vast expanse of sands at low tide, and Bundle Bay - a few miles up the coast, is renowned as an ornithological paradise.
Alnmouth
A quiet and picturesque village with beautiful sandy beaches and one of the oldest golf courses in England. Ideal for a 'care-free' base, with the nearby mainline station and bus service.
Holy Island
Visit the famous Lindisfarne brewery to take a sip of the local mead, or pay a visit to the castle and limestone cliffs and nature reserve - a home to the many sea birds.
Foxton Golf Club
Blessed with some of the most beautiful golf courses in England, Alnmouth Golf Club, known as Foxton is one of Englands oldest courses.
